Account Deletion Information
MILVETCOM allows users to permanently delete their account directly from within the mobile application.
To delete your account:
From the Home Page, select the Settings icon located in the footer navigation.
On the Settings page, select Delete My Account.
A confirmation screen will appear explaining that your account and associated information will be permanently deleted and cannot be restored.
Select I Am Sure to confirm your decision.
Select Delete My Account to permanently delete your account.
Once this process is completed, the account deletion cannot be reversed.
What Data Is Deleted
When a user deletes their account, MILVETCOM permanently deletes all account-related information, including but not limited to:
User profile information
Email address
Username
Profile photographs
Social media posts
Comments
Chat messages and direct messages
Contacts and social connections
Following and follower relationships
Blocked user relationships
Uploaded images and media
DD-214 documents
Resume documents
User-generated content associated with the account
All account-related data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Deleting Data Without Deleting Your Account
MILVETCOM allows users to delete certain data without deleting their account.
Users may:
Delete individual social media posts.
Delete individual chat messages.
Delete profile photographs.
Edit or remove optional profile information.
Update their email address.
Update their zip code.
Remove uploaded content where applicable.
Delete VTRAT results
Deleted content is permanently removed from the MILVETCOM platform and cannot be restored.
Certain account information, including a username (cannot be changed once selected), email address (can be updated but not omitted; required for password reset), and zip code (can be updated but not omitted; required for platoon placement), is required to maintain an active account. Users who wish to remove all account-related information may use the account deletion process described above.
Deletion of Individual Posts and Messages
MILVETCOM allows users to delete social media posts and chat messages that they have created.
When a user deletes a social media post:
The post is permanently deleted from the MILVETCOM platform.
Any text, images, and other content associated with the post are removed immediately.
The deleted post cannot be restored.
When a user deletes a chat message:
The message is permanently removed from the conversation thread.
The message is immediately removed from the MILVETCOM platform and cannot be restored.
The conversation thread itself may continue to exist, but the deleted message will no longer be present.
Users who viewed a post or message before it was deleted may still remember or retain information they previously viewed. However, once deleted, the content will no longer be accessible or viewable through the MILVETCOM platform.
MILVETCOM does not retain deleted posts or deleted chat messages after deletion.
Research Data Retention
MILVETCOM retains data collected through the Veteran Transition Risk Assessment Test (VTRAT) for research purposes. This information is used to help improve understanding of the challenges Veterans may experience during their transition from military service to civilian life.
The retained research dataset does not contain personal identifying information such as:
Name
Username
Email address
Profile information
Uploaded documents
Photos
The retained dataset may contain a MongoDB-generated Object ID that was originally associated with the user account. However, once an account is deleted, the associated account record and identifying information are permanently removed. As a result, the retained VTRAT research data can no longer be associated with or traced back to a specific individual through MILVETCOM account records.
Data Retention Period
Except for the VTRAT research data described above, account-related data is deleted immediately when a user completes the account deletion process.
MILVETCOM does not retain deleted account data for any additional retention period.
